Engaging experiences are becoming a core feature of the training and education sector to help improve user understanding through interactivity and emersion.
Here at Harmony Studios we have developed many experiences dedicated to improving user engagement while also ensuring users are absorbing information. There are many ways to deliver such experiences, from VR, AR, WebXR, to 360 tours we’ve utilised them all for different clients to help meet their requirements.
Arrange a meeting
To find out how we can help you leverage our expertise in AR & VR for Training and Education, contact us to arrange a call or meeting.
As an example, supporting written media with WebXR experiences allows users to view content they would otherwise not have immediate access to, such as 3D recreations of medical procedures, and can be a great way to give users additional information before they complete traditional training; such techniques can help improve pass rates and reduce health and safety risks, especially in the case of otherwise dangerous work.
Training
We are an award-winning AR/VR studio and won funding from InnovateUK to develop a post Covid, Carbon reducing training platform in 2021. The resulting framework is now on commercial release and allows organisations to deliver flexible, accurate, structured training to group members at any time and location. All participants exist in a single virtual space which allows them to talk, gesture, interact together and exchange objects under the guidance of a trainer.
Users can perform solo training at any time or join a pre-arranged group session which works in the same way as a Zoom or Teams meeting. The difference is that we don’t stream everyone’s faces, users are present in the same Virtual Space (or “Metaverse”) and able to interact with the digital environment around. Trainers, uniquely, manage everything via a simple desktop application which allows them to deliver their expertise without the concern of the latest headsets or apps.
Education
Digital technology is becoming a core part of education, and is common place in classrooms of today. With curriculums expanding to include more complex tasks like coding, it’s important to keep up with the digital generation. There are several avenues to take, including interactive VR experiences, or AR apps which bring to life important historical characters such as Albert Einstein, or Winston Churchill.
At Harmony Studios we’ve created the Brain AR App, which displays an AR version of the human head and talks through the different parts of the brain in an interactive experience. Using simple interactions that allow users to remove layers of the model, and expand different parts of the brain we provide a fun way of learning more about how our brains work. We also use voice over audio to help those with learning difficulties.
Another example of apps in education comes from working closely with Fife Council to create an interactive simulation app based on the “Race to Zero” initiative. Educating students across county Fife is key to boosting enterprise learning for ages 12-16. Using gamification, the app requires students to make a sequence of decisions that effect the towns Zero Carbon energy use, population and economic state. Each session lasts approximately 40 minutes to fit in with lesson time.
Onboarding
The staff onboarding process can be tedious, with handfuls of documents to read and training to undertake, often consuming a large amount of time with very little indication of how much has been understood. Using gamification techniques and interactivity, we’re able to improve the user onboarding experience by creating interesting and informative experiences which highlight key company features and ideologies.
Such experiences can come in the form of 360 Web Tours, which place the user in interesting 360 environments they can explore right from their web browser. Place your staff in common scenarios, or let them explore places key within your company without the expense.
When users interact, we can include animations, avatars, video, web pages, or sounds to make the experience more interesting and engaging. Everything is mouse based but if you use a phone/tablet, the 360 can be based on your motion and movement.
Support
Costa Express have been hugely successful in delivering a “Bean to Cup” product direct to the consumer. With over 8000 retail machines across the UK, imagine the complexity in providing effective, on-site training to different staff to ensure the very best in maintenance and up-time is achieved.
Harmony have been able to improve the learning experience for staff by tapping into BYOD style training and using AR to present content to users visually. The award winning system is accessible at any time, anywhere and allows all user progress to be monitored through a secure online management platform.
The app allows users to take basic training, view key maintenance procedures and diagnose a range of errors all in one place, in their own time and at their own pace. Users are able to view and interact with 3D content and see how it directly relates to each machine, giving staff confidence and independence when it comes to troubleshooting.
