VRagrance – adding scent to virtual reality
[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]We love experimenting, building and innovating here (and we also get bored easily) which is why we turned our attention to creating a software controlled scent delivery system. Not only that but we designed and 3D printed our prototypes so that we can trial it out with our VR.
Now, it didn’t escape us that one of the worst technical products of all time was the “Digiscent” released over 10 years ago but hey – we like a challenge. Actually, our requirements are also very different. Instead of making a teen bedroom smell of a war zone (don’t they anyway?), we have created an interactive unit which sends controlled fragrances which match and interact with the digital environments and actions the user is experiencing.
I know, it sounds strange but the effect of smell is much under-rated (which is why, for example, great stores have subtle but distinct aromas to them) and, in a virtual environment, we have already found very surprising results.
Our role is to make digital content believable using visual, audio, movement, touch and now scent.
Don’t believe us? Come to the studio and try for yourself.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”2503″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
